Markku Maula

Dr Markku Maula is Professor of Venture Capital at the Institute of Strategy and International Business at Helsinki University of Technology. Professor Maula graduated as Doctor of Science in Technology (with distinction) in 2001. Professor Maula’s research focuses on venture capital and corporate venturing. He has received several international awards for outstanding scholarship including the Heizer Award from the Academy of Management for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of new enterprise development 2001, the McKinsey & Company Best Conference Paper Prize Honorable Mention at the Strategic Management Society conference 2000, the Stevens Institute of Technology Wesley J. Howe Award for Research in Corporate Entrepreneurship at the Babson Kauffman Entrepreneurship Research Conference 2003 and The Haynes Prize for the Best Paper Award at the Academy of International Business Meeting 2004. In addition to his research and teaching roles, Professor Maula acts as an advisor to firms and government agencies in various issues related to venture capital and corporate venturing.
